Having fun in the sun

June 19, 2017

It’s almost July which means families will be starting to go away on their summer holidays. Whether you are jetting off on a plane or opting for a staycation we hope you have plenty of fun in the sun. Here are 5 of our favourite things to help your little ones stay safe but mostly enjoy the sun.

With sunshine and children comes water, whether that be outdoors in the garden or on the beach, they love it. The Trunki PaddlePak is a swim bag made from a water resistant, lightweight fabric keeping all the essentials safe and dry. Your children can pack their own clothes, goggles, sun cream and toys into this fun Splash the Dolphin backpack and just like a dolphin they can splash around in the water without a drop of water getting in.

If you’re heading to the beach this summer with baby in tow, the Splash About All in One sun protection suit is worth checking out. The fabric is UPF50+ but also cool, lightweight and soft to the touch ensuring they are even suitable for protecting delicate, young skin in the sunshine. Not only do the high neck, long legs and sleeves keep the sun at bay but the material is also perfect for little ones who have to wear creams for skin conditions such as Eczema. It’s a non-slip material that ensures the cream isn’t absorbed.

When the sun is shining, sun cream is an essential. Scrap the messy bottle of lotion and use a Solar Buddies. Mum or dad just needs to fill it up with whatever sun cream they wish to use and it’s ready to go.  It has been designed specifically for children to use by themselves. The bottle is chunky making it easy for children to grip and the roller ball controls the flow of lotion (so no more overflows and mess everywhere), whilst the sponge helps children to ensure the lotion is rubbed in.

Ponchos are much easier for youngsters on the beach and they make the ideal beach cover-up. Just pop it over their heads and let the kids move or run around as they dry off. All hooded ponchos do the same job but this much-loved Finding Nemo poncho from Boots Mini Club is our favourite. Fun, colourful and it even has Nemos odd fins on the side. Just keep swimming!

foot wear

Are your little ones fond explorers? If you think they might enjoy playing in rock pools looking for crabs at the beach you should definitely invest in some sandals that are up for the challenge. The KEEN toddler’s Newport H2 are durable, strong and the quick-drying webbing is perfect for splashing in and out of the water. We love the elastic cord lace that helps youngster get them on and take them off by themselves. There’s a range of colours and designs but we think the shark print is perfect for the seaside!
